Well, a month has passed since I took J out of school, and I have to say the difference in that short time is dramatic. His confidence is returning, and thankfully I am starting to see the sunny, funny boy I knew coming back to me...
Still actively 'de-schooling', though he is finding the process a lot easier than I am!! Social conditioning has left me with the feeling that, unless he has a pencil in his hand for at least three hours of the day, then he has not 'achieved' anything. But then I reviewed what we had done over the last month, and was staggered to realise that his education has actually been vast... from cooking to understanding the Norman Conquest, and everything in between!
So, maybe now I can start to relax a little... allow the stress levels to drop and the fun to increase!
Tomorrows project is growing garlic - J has bought a garlic bulb (at great expense!) from the local Garden Centre and I have provided a good ol Tesco one. Under controlled conditions (ahem!) which he has dictated, we are going to see whether there is a difference in the yield and growth of one costing £3.75 (yes, really!) and one costing 30p (and no prizes for guessing which is which!).
Hoping to wake up to blue skies tomorrow!!
